In the trauma unit, we respond, assess, and care for patients who are critically ill or injured. Often, many specialist disciplines come together at the same time and care for the patients. Whether it is patients after a resuscitation, severely injured accident patients or patients who have had fresh strokes. The trauma unit is equipped with the state-of-the-art technology such as a CT scanner, ventilators, circulatory support options, ultrasound machines, etc. Often, we initiate immediate further therapy and relocation to other specialized units of the hospital, e.g. to the operating room, to the intensive care unit, to the cardiac catheterization laboratory or for special stroke therapy in neuroradiology or to the stroke station.
